Application for School Meals & Summer EBT Program

Receive $120 per Eligible Child with the Summer EBT Program!

Learn How the Summer EBT Program Can Support Your Family

The Summer EBT Program is a federal initiative designed to help families purchase nutritious food for their school-aged children during the summer months. Eligible families will receive $120 per child to use toward groceries when school is out. Children who receive Summer EBT funds may still join other summer meal programs, and receiving these benefits does not impact the immigration status of any child or family member.

How Does the Summer EBT Program Work?

In New Jersey, Summer EBT benefits are placed on an EBT card that is mailed directly to your home. If your child qualifies, you can use these funds to buy items such as fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy products, and meat at grocery stores, farmers markets, and other retailers that accept SNAP or WIC EBT payments. Summer EBT provides an easy and reliable way to help ensure your child stays healthy and well-nourished during the summer.

Is My Child Eligible?

Your child may receive Summer EBT benefits if any of the following apply:

  • Your household currently participates in SNAP, TANF, Foster Care, or income-eligible Medicaid,

  • Your child attends a school that participates in the National School Lunch Program or the School Breakfast Program, and your household income meets federal free or reduced-price meal requirements.

Note: Students who qualify under NJEIE status are not eligible for Summer EBT.

How to Apply for Summer EBT Benefits in New Jersey

If your household already receives SNAP, TANF, Foster Care, or income-eligible Medicaid:

Your child qualifies automatically. No application is needed. Please make sure your school district has your current home address so the NJ Summer EBT card can be mailed to you. Cards will begin arriving in June.

If your child still does not meet automatic eligibility requirements, you may apply by completing the Federal Application for School Meals using one of the options below:
