Paterson Charter School for Science and Technology is committed to providing appropriate programs, services, and supports to meet the diverse academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and educational needs of our students.
Intervention & Referral Services (I&RS)
The Intervention & Referral Services (I&RS) team supports students who may be experiencing academic, behavioral, health, attendance, or social-emotional difficulties. The team works collaboratively with teachers, families, and school staff to identify student needs, develop interventions, and monitor progress.

Section 504
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act protects qualified students with disabilities from discrimination and ensures equal access to educational programs and activities. Eligible students may receive accommodations and supports through an individualized Section 504 Plan.

Special Education
PCSST provides special education programs and related services to eligible students in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and New Jersey special education regulations.
When a disability is suspected and there are concerns regarding a student’s educational performance, a referral may be made to the Child Study Team for consideration of an evaluation. The Child Study Team works collaboratively with families, teachers, and other school professionals throughout the evaluation, eligibility, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) process.
Special education services and supports are provided based on each student’s individual needs and may include in-class support, resource programs, related services, accommodations, modifications, and other supports identified through the IEP process.
