Frozen Musical

On April 24th, PCSST’s Musical Theatre Club presented PCSST’s first musical production, FROZEN Jr., at The Fair Lawn Community Center Theatre. The cast and crew of nearly 50 students worked tirelessly for 3 months to prepare the show for an audience. Led by Junior Zemirah Redmond and Senior Kaela Williams as Elsa and Anna respectively, the cast featured students from grades 5 through 12!

The production team of Executive Producer/Musical Director Veronica Abdo, Director Aubriana Sabino, and Co-Musical Director Annie Schulenbug set out to take a story set in a Norway-inspired rural kingdom and make it fit the student actors PCSST represents. Lines were slightly changed, cuts were made, and music was rearranged- all for the common goal of representing PCCST to the highest and most honest standard. FROZEN is a story that transcends time, location, nationality, and so many other things. While creating this production, it was imperative to Director Aubriana Sabino that PCSST’s production showed not only what had been written on the pages of the script but also who the students were, the struggles they faced, their successes, and ultimately, the (albeit crooked) road to true love.

The talented cast also included Mia Mitchell and Nathaly Ucros as the younger versions of Elsa and Anna, with Ucros also tackling the role of Olaf; Sean Palacios as Kristoff; Nadir Johnson as Hans; Abigail Galvan doubling the roles of The King and Wesleton; Cyrane Williams, who also served as Choreographer, as The Queen; Nayhaliz Ortiz as Sven; Jocelyn Huaman as the Bishop; Emma Martin as Bulda; and Geraldine Vargas as Oaken. The ensemble was composed of Kelly Rasso, Melany Alvarez Soloranzo, Brianna Davey, Rhiana Davey, Layla Davis, Ranglin Fernandez, Arcelly Robles Balladares, Gracely Urena, Arianna Redmond, Algenis Rodriguez, Sarae Simpson, Amiyah Thomas, and Jaleah Robinson.

The student technical crew, members of the Backstage Basics club, provided sound, lighting, stage management, property design, and wardrobe management, and acted as dressers, runners, set crew, strike crew, and almost anything else one can think of! These students were essential to the success of the production: Elias Vargas, Kathleen Chirinos, Naomy Ramirez, Janissa Ortiz, Chelsea Urena, Darleny DeLaCruz, Asaia Dias, Samantha Craig, and Davia Henry.

We are so proud, grateful, and inspired by the magic the Company of FROZEN Jr. created on stage AND off.
