PCSST Healthcare Programs Partnership with William Paterson University

Paterson Charter School for Science and Technology (PCSST) is pleased to announce a collaborative partnership with William Paterson University (WPU), initiating our inaugural healthcare programs, specifically Phlebotomy and Patient Care Technician. The program is implemented as a pilot for the 2025-2026 academic year, involving eleven students who have participated in lectures and laboratory sessions. The program commenced with the Phlebotomy module during Semester 1, during which students engaged in practical laboratory experience and successfully completed the required 50 phlebotomy procedures utilizing classmates, staff, and family members. On January 30, 2026, all eleven students enrolled in the Phlebotomy course sat for the national certification examination, resulting in a 73% pass rate, with eight students successfully obtaining certification in their initial attempt. Semester 2 is currently underway, with the Patient Care Technician course in progress, and the national certification examination is scheduled for early May 2026.
