World Language

Welcome to PCSST World Language Department
The World Language and Culture Program at PCSST emphasizes the history and culture of each language in addition to the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills unique to each one. Currently PCSST offers Spanish, Chinese and Turkish the last two of which are recent additions. With continued student interest it is our intention to eventually offer each of these to a third year of study. Concentration in one language is preferred by competitive colleges as opposed to taking introductory courses in several languages.
Why learning another language is important?
Cognitive Growth
Studies show that bilingual students have better problem-solving skills, improved memory, and enhanced creative thinking than their monolingual peers.
Cultural Empathy
Language is the heart of culture. Learning a new tongue allows students to step into someone else’s shoes, fostering tolerance and global citizenship.
Career Advantage
In an increasingly globalized economy, bilingualism is one of the most sought-after traits by top employers in tech, medicine, and international business.
“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.”
— Nelson Mandela
