At PCSST, we are committed to providing the highest quality mathematics instruction to all students at every level. Our program emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical modeling to prepare students for college, careers, and real-world applications.
Within the Mathematics Department—and in collaboration with other departments—our teachers work closely together to share best practices and continuously improve instruction. We actively seek innovative teaching strategies to ensure an engaging and supportive learning environment for all students.
The State of New Jersey requires a minimum of three years of mathematics for high school graduation, including Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. Beyond these required courses, the PCSST Mathematics Department offers a wide range of opportunities for advanced study. These include Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, Robotics, and a variety of mathematics electives.
In addition, PCSST provides Dual Enrollment opportunities in courses such as College Algebra and Financial Literacy, allowing students to earn college credit while still in high school. Elective courses such as Business Math and Integrated Math are also offered to support students at all levels and help meet diverse academic needs and goals.
Students who are interested in pursuing advanced mathematics are strongly encouraged to develop a personalized high school math plan in consultation with their parents and guidance counselors. This plan should reflect each student’s abilities, interests, and post-secondary aspirations to support a successful academic future.
