YMCA Trip

7th Grade Takes Learning Beyond the Classroom!

Our 7th graders had an unforgettable day of teamwork, exploration, and hands-on learning during their trip to the YMCA in New Milford, NJ, on June 16th, 2026. Students embraced the opportunity to think like engineers as they worked together to solve creative challenges that required communication, perseverance, and critical thinking. Teams designed and built cubes using plastic tubing, carefully balanced their structures in buckets, and developed strategies to move every team member through the cube without causing it to fall or break.

Throughout the day, students continued to put their problem-solving skills to work by building earthquake-resistant structures, launching step rockets through hula hoop targets, and testing their focus and coordination through activities like axe-throwing and archery. Beyond the challenges themselves, students practiced important skills such as collaboration, leadership, and resilience. It was wonderful to see our 7th graders step outside their comfort zones, support one another, and demonstrate the creativity and determination that make our school community so special!
