Support Services at PCSST

Below is a list of support services provided to our students at PCSST.

Intervention & Referral Services (I&RS)

I&RS is a team made up of teachers, guidance counselors, the school nurse, and other staff members that meets to develop strategies to help your child improve their learning and/or behavior.

This plan is shared with your child’s teachers, who will implement the strategies and monitor progress. Parents are invited to participate in all stages of the process.

504 Plan

A student is entitled to a 504 Plan if they have a physical or mental health disability that limits one or more major life functions. These include, but are not limited to, ADHD, depression, diabetes, and hearing loss.

The 504 Plan provides the modifications and accommodations needed for students to have the opportunity to perform at the same level as their peers.

Special Education

The mission of the PCSST Special Education Department is to provide support services that facilitate literacy development and encourage analytical and critical thinking skills. Our goal is to foster responsibility, independence, self-reliance, and confidence so students can graduate and transition into productive members of the community.

Students whose needs go beyond I&RS or a 504 Plan may be referred to the Child Study Team for evaluation to determine eligibility for special education and related services. If eligible, the IEP team will determine the most appropriate and least restrictive educational environment.

Parents may directly refer their child to the guidance counselor or Child Study Team by submitting a signed and dated letter or email.
