Below is a list of support services provided to our students at PCSST.

INTERVENTION & REFERRAL SERVICES (I&RS):

I&RS is a team made up of teachers, guidance counselors, the school nurse, and other staff members that meets to develop strategies to help your child improve their learning and/or behavior.  This plan is shared with your child’s teachers, who will implement and record his or her progress. You will be invited to participate in all stages of the process.

504 PLAN:

A student is entitled to a 504 Plan if they have a physical or mental health disability that limits one or more major life functions.  These include, but are not limited to, ADHD, depression, diabetes, and hearing loss.  The 504 plan provides modifications and accommodations that will be needed for these students to have an opportunity to perform at the same level as their peers.

SPECIAL EDUCATION:

The mission of the PCSST Special Education Department is to provide support services that will facilitate the development of literacy and encourage analytical and critical thinking skills that will foster responsibility, self- reliance, independence, and confidence in order for our students to graduate and transition into productive members of the community.  

Students who have difficulties that go beyond I&RS or a 504 plan can be referred to the child study team for an evaluation to rule out learning or other disabilities.  If your child is found eligible to receive special education and related services, the IEP team will meet and discuss an appropriate, least restrictive environment for your child.   You can directly refer your child to his or her guidance counselor or the school’s child study team by sending a signed and dated letter or an email.
