WELCOME!

Thank you for visiting the PCSST Middle Grades Math Department home page.

At PCSST, we are committed to providing the highest quality mathematics instruction to empower all students during these pivotal transitional years. Our program bridges foundational arithmetic with algebraic thinking, emphasizing critical thinking, hands-on problem-solving, and real-world reasoning to build confident, capable mathematicians. We actively integrate visual models, digital tools, and interactive learning strategies to foster an engaging, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.

Across grades 4 through 7, our core curriculum guides students through key mathematical milestones that form the bedrock of higher-level math:

  • Grades 4 & 5 (Foundations & Conceptual Fluency): Mastering multi-digit operations, developing a deep understanding of fraction and decimal arithmetic, analyzing two- and three-dimensional geometric figures, and introducing early algebraic concepts like numerical expressions and patterns.

  • Grades 6 & 7 (Proportional Reasoning & Pre-Algebra): Transitioning into abstract thinking through ratios, rates, and percentages; exploring integers and rational numbers; solving algebraic equations and inequalities; analyzing data distributions; and applying proportional relationships to real-world contexts.

We encourage families to partner with us as we support each student’s unique learning journey, setting a clear trajectory for success in their high school math courses and beyond.

PCSST is an equal opportunity provider.
