7th Grade Washington, DC Trip on Memorial Weekend, 5/23-24/2026
Over Memorial Day weekend, 30 of our PCSST scholars took a field trip to Washington, D.C. Our trip began with a visit to the National Museum of American History. The first exhibit we visited was The Value of Money, which showed various currencies from around the world. Our second exhibit, Many Voices, One Nation, highlighted the impact of diverse cultures in shaping the United States. We also viewed the Entertainment Nation exhibit, which showcased the various ways pop culture has influenced American society over the last 150 years. The second Museum we visited was the National Air and Space Museum. Here we viewed various aircraft used for space exploration, for warfare in World War I and II, and for early flight innovations. Following our museum visits, we explored Washington on an Old Town Trolley Tour. The tour took us to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, and Capitol Hill. During our second day of the trip, our group took pictures outside the United States Capitol Building and the United States Supreme Court. After our group photos, we attended the Smithsonian National Zoological Park. Here, we saw various wildlife, including giant pandas, seals, sloth bears, elephants, leopards, and lemurs. The trip was a great success, and students had an amazing time exploring our nation’s capital!
