This year’s Black History Month assembly was a wonderful celebration of history, creativity, and student talent. Students currently enrolled in art, contributed beautiful artwork that was displayed throughout the venue. Their pieces reflected their interpretations of artwork inspired by famous African American artists. Ms. Ward, the Computer Science Teacher, had the honor of narrating the event. It opened with a presentation by the newscasting club on key figures in Black History. It then transitioned to a performance done by our Cheerleaders. Up next, students in grades 4,5,6 and 7 performed “Hey Black Child,” and the 3rd place winner of the Martin Luther King Jr. speech writing contest performed his speech. The crowning moment was the original song written by Mr. Scott and performed by his music classes. Everyone’s creativity, passion, and hard work brought history to life in a way that will resonate with our school community for a long time.
